Our Story
Located in the heart of downtown New Canaan, Tequila Mockingbird serves fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine in a friendly, upbeat and eclectic environment.
Tequila’s food is made with traditional ingredients whenever possible. Dried chilis and fresh produce are imported from Mexico. Meats such as beef and pork are purchased through local purveyors.
In 2012, Tequila Mockingbird was one of 20 restaurants in the United States to receive certification for “expertise in Tequila and its culture” from the Consejo Regulador Del Tequila (Regulatory Council of Tequila). The bartenders at Tequila Mockingbird have attended “Tequila School” in the town of Tequila, in Jalisco, Mexico, and the entire staff has taken classes provided by the Mexican Government. We love Tequila and make every effort to share our unique knowledge with any and all interested guests.
Tequila Mockingbird was founded in 1993 and has been a New Canaan favorite for 25 years.
As with most restaurants, Tequila’s character and style is shaped by thousands of little stories and lots of people. We sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit.
